No More Magical Thinking: Novel Workshop

June 21, 2017 @ 9:00 am - 3:00 pm

Join novelists Debby Turrell Atkinson and Lise McClendon, resident faculty for the JH Writers Conference, for this six-hour hands-on preconference workshop. There is nothing magical in what they have to offer, but you will feel like it at the end of the day.

Here’s your chance to cut loose and lay the groundwork for the rest of your novel. The structure and safety of this one-day workshop encourages everyone to write and not get lost in the weeds or the tall grass. This is the fourth year for Lise and Debby to offer this preconference workshop. Whatever stage you are at, it will be helpful.

According to Debby and Lise, “We will discuss character development, a general road map for novel structure, and the much-needed conflict, within both the character and the story.”
Learn to cut out the magical thinking and get down to the nuts and bolts of writing a novel. There will be short periods of instruction, followed by writing exercises. Participants will be given a chance to read what they’ve written. They promise that the workshop is all about encouraging writers to finish that novel.

Preregistration not an absolute must, but we provide a box lunch and prefer to know by Tuesday, June 20, that you are planning to join the fun. $150 for an amazing workshop.
